Health & Safety
Our Directors have more than 50 years of combined experience of managing safe working practices across all disciplines of facilities management in both public and private sectors, and providing the highest level of health & safety support to clients.
Many maintenance activities that fall within the scope of facilities management are often poorly managed by contractors which can lead to unsafe practices and/or non-compliance with basic statutory requirements. In addition, clients are often unaware that the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 specify the control measures relating to most FM activities, that clients have clear responsibilities to ensure that works are managed and completed safely by their appointed contractors, and that these responsibilities cannot be delegated to others. Failure to effectively control and manage these activities can lead to injuries, deaths, prosecutions or simply reputational damage for organisations.
Our practical and independent expertise of specialist disciplines such as maintenance management, fire safety, Legionella, confined spaces, hot works and working-at height has allowed us to successfully support many organisations to establish and maintain robust safety management systems which resulted in them meeting their legal, ethical and moral obligations across their workplaces. Global research has also shown that these safety management systems can also serve to improve employee morale and productivity thereby helping to reduce staff turnover rates.
We also provide clients with support relating to their general obligations as set out in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and other applicable legislation workplace health and safety management by assisting in areas such as general risk assessments, health & safety statements, staff ergonomic assessments, staff training, emergency response plans, development of robust permit-to-work procedures and accident investigations.
Some clients also choose to seek accreditation with quality standards such as ISO 45001 for their Health and Safety Management systems or ISO14001 for their Environmental Management systems so we can provide support to prepare organisations for accreditation with these standards. An effective internal auditing programme is an integral component of an accredited management system so we can also support clients by completing independent pre-audits in preparation for accreditation.
We have a close partnership with a well-established Irish CMMS and IOT system (https://azollasoftware.com/) because we know how essential this technology is for efficient and effective Hard and Soft Facilities Management but we are also experienced in mobilising and using other well-known CAFM systems.
We at ACE-FMS uniquely blend together building maintenance and engineering management, soft facilities management, energy/sustainability management, workplace safety management and more to provide the best package of Facilities Management support to our commercial clients so please contact us for more information.
